Chapter 53 Erik's Anxiousness

"Erik!" Amber said as the training ended, but Erik was in no mood to talk to Amber now.

"WHAT?" the young man said on edge, and his reply didn't come out really well.

pA n,dan(-)0ve1.c0m Amber was taken aback by Erik's tone, feeling slightly offended by the young man's rude tone but tried not to overthink the situation. "What's the problem?" she asked.

Triggering Erik immediately, "There is no problem..." Erik coldly replied, thinking that he had been found out.

"It doesn't look like it," the young woman replied while Gwen and Floyd began walking toward them.

"As I said, there is no problem" Erik replied again, trying his best not to arouse suspicion but looking cold-hearted to Amber.

Erik asked himself, not realizing that everything was just in his mind and that Amber was only trying to be friendly.

The others walked up to them at that point, Gwen first. She stopped before Erik with an angry look; the young man noticed it and started looking her in the eyes, waiting for her to speak.

Gwen noticed that his eyes seemed much older than hersas if years had passed since their last meeting. Maybe something really happened to him, but she couldn't stand how he was talking to her friend.

"Stop talking to her like that!" Gwen said.

"I'm doing nothing," Erik replied with growing annoyance and a slightly aggressive posture.

Floyd then put himself between Gwen and Erik, "Hey, Hey, calm down, you two. You are not three years old!"

"He started it!" Gwen replied.

"Look, I don't know what the hell you want from me, but I don't want problems..." Erik replied, slightly angered.

"What the hell are you talking about, Erik? Amber was only trying to be kind," Gwen said, referring to her friend, who was now starting to feel uncomfortable.

"Nothing, sorry," Erik said, trying to calm down and understanding that he was messing things up. "Its just that I had a bad day, ok?"

"This doesn't mean you can be rude!" the young woman replied.

"Look, I'm in no mood to talk today, really. Leave me alone," Erik said, quickly walking away from the trio.

Amber was a little bit hurt by Erik's behavior, but she decided it wasn't that important and suppressed his hurt feelings.

She looked at the leaving young man, knowing that it was a huge misunderstanding and that probably, something big had happened to the young man.

"Wait, Erik," she said, but he ignored her and went away.

Erik was now aware that he had almost screwed up and that, on top of that, he was being rude to the three friends and ruining the only resemblance of friendship he ever had in his life, but he could do nothing to change what had already happened.

He only hoped that Amber, Gwen, and Floyd did not take too much offense. He wanted to be left alone right now since he had a lot on his mind. He kept going until he reached the end of the aisle and left the school's premises.

When he got outside, he saw some people leaving school and heading in different directions. He didn't know them; he knew no one outside Floyd, Gwen, and Amber, to be honest. He was even conflicted about it since it was sad that a sixteen years old had no friends, but at the same time, he despised most people from Frant, almost everyone, to be honest, so he didn't wish to be friends with them.

Besides, he was alone for most of his life, so being alone some more time meant nothing to him.

Erik then went to the train station and then headed to the eastern district, where his home was located. Erik later arrived home with dark thoughts filling his head. He couldn't waste time as he had many things to do, primarily absorbing the four brain crystal powers.

"System, how much time is required to absorb the four DNA samples and powers?" Erik asked.

"Yes, start by extracting the DNA," Erik said. He knew he would feel pain because of the procedure, but he didn't care.

Before the machine started working on the task, Erik locked the door, turned off the lights, and lay on the couch. He stared at the ceiling without saying a word. Then, after ten minutes, Erik decided he had had enough waiting.

"Go on," he said to the system. Then the extraction and DNA adjustment began, and as usual, pain started ravaging the young man's body.

His thinking process slowed, and the world around him spun. At the same time, simultaneously, he started having an odd feeling in his ears.

His hearing suddenly decreased, and he developed tinnitus in a matter of seconds; it was disturbing.

The pain worsened as usual during the procedure, becoming comparable to being set on fire and having his organs carved out from his flesh.

Tears ran down his face, and Erik managed to stifle his screams to the point where they sounded like raspy whispers. After fifteen minutes had passed, Erik began violently shaking, and the pain started subsiding slowly once it ended.

Erik was barely able to clear his mind when the system's notification rang inside his head. There was a small moment of confusion, and then Erik started losing consciousness. His eyes became heavy, and he closed them tightly under the system's influence.

The extraction process took place for a total of nine hours. During this extended period of time, Erik was unconscious, and as a result, he was unable to grasp the changes that occurred in his body.

The young man regained consciousness after the completion of the extraction, and it was already the following day's morning.

As he opened his eyes, he saw the ceiling above him. As usual, he could feel nothing, as if the extraction had never happened.

"I guess the extraction went well." Erik couldn't feel anything different inside his body, that was true, but he knew that he had acquired three new powers, and he would get the fourth one in two days. Though, he wanted to be sure.

"System, show me the status," Erik said. Immediately, a blue and white transparent window appeared in front of Erik's vision.
